Type 1 – The Reformer

Your drive is to get it right: correct, fair, properly done.

This page describes one possible result of the quiz Enneagram test: what drives you?

Take the quiz

What this means

Core motivation

You want to be good, correct and beyond reproach, and you want the world to be better than it is. You carry an inner critic that is louder than any outside one. Errors bother you; your own most of all.

At your best

Principled, reliable and fair. You improve everything you touch, you do not cut corners, and people trust your judgement because it is not for sale.

Under stress

The critic takes over. You become rigid, resentful of people who do not try as hard, and quietly furious while insisting you are fine. Rest feels like a failure of discipline.

In relationships

You are loyal and responsible, and you show love by making things right. Partners may feel judged when you were only trying to help. Praise out loud comes less naturally to you than correction.

One thing to try

Do one thing to eighty percent this week, on purpose, and leave it there.

About the quiz: Enneagram test: what drives you?

Most of what we do has a motive underneath it that we rarely name: to get it right, to be needed, to succeed, to be understood, to understand, to feel safe, to stay free, to stay in control, to keep the peace. This quiz puts you in 27 everyday situations and asks what you would actually do. The pattern in your answers points to one of nine core motivations. This nine-type model is known as the enneagram.

It takes about six minutes and there is nothing to sign up for. Nobody is only one type: you will see all nine scored, and the second-highest usually says something true as well. This is a reflective model, not a scientific measurement, and the page says so plainly.

How this quiz works

The quiz presents 27 situations with three answers each. Every answer gives two points to one of nine core motivations and one point to a neighbouring one, because real motives overlap. Each motivation is the main option in exactly nine answers, so no type is easier to get than another. Your result is the motivation with the most points; the bars show the others relative to it. A close second is worth reading too.

The nine-type model is often called the enneagram. The situations and type descriptions here are original kahur.ee content; we do not use any institute's questions, names or texts. The model is a reflective typology: it is widely used for self-reflection and coaching, but it does not have strong scientific validation and this quiz is not a psychological test. Nothing here is a diagnosis or advice. If you want a measured picture of your personality, take the Big Five test on this site.

Frequently asked questions

What is the enneagram?

The enneagram is a personality model that sorts people into nine types by what drives them most deeply: the wish to be right, needed, successful, authentic, competent, safe, free, strong or at peace. G. I. Gurdjieff brought the nine-pointed symbol to the West in the early 20th century; Oscar Ichazo and Claudio Naranjo developed it into a model of personality types in the 1960s and 1970s.

Is this the official enneagram test?

There is no single official enneagram test. Many schools and authors use the model, each with their own questions. This quiz is written by kahur.ee: the situations and type descriptions are our own, and we do not use any institute's questions or texts.

What if two types are close?

Then both are part of how you work. Read both pages; most people recognise themselves in the top two or three. The result is the pattern of your answers, not a verdict.

Can my type change?

The core motivation tends to be stable, but your answers depend on the day, your mood and the situations you had in mind. If you get a different result next month, notice what changed in you.

Is this scientific?

No. The nine-type model is a reflective framework, not a validated psychological instrument, and the questions here are our own. It is useful for thinking about yourself, not for measuring you.

Which type is best?

None. Each type has a gift and a trap, and the pages describe both. The useful question is what your type reaches for automatically and what it avoids.

Is my result stored?

No. Your result is worked out at once and we do not store your answers. The share link contains only your type and scores.
